Planning Your Wine Event - Private Wine Tastings
Wine
Events has created a wide variety of events for a diverse group
of clients over the years. No event is too small or too large. Our
first goal is to identify your vision for your event, or to help
you with that process, and to customize a wine tasting to fit your
interests and budget.
Our
main events are typically:
•
Corporate
Receptions
•
Charity
Fundraisers
• Private Parties
• Client Appreciation
• Open Houses
WINE BARS
Some events are intended
to be primarily social, encouraging the attendees to mingle. A reception
style tasting works best for this format in which you have one or
more "wine bars" that are hosted by one of our sommeliers.
At many reception style events the attendees do not all arrive at
the same time, which also makes having a "wine bar" a
perfect activity to immediately engage the guests and put a beverage
in their hand upon arrival.

Whether
a "wine bar" is in your home, at your business, a private
room in a hotel, on your patio, a rooftop, backyard, or on a yacht,
this style of a tasting works best for interaction.

GROUP TASTINGS
Some events are designed
to be educational. For these type of events a sommelier will lead
the group through an interactive group tasting. For most of these
events David LeClaire will present a selection of wines to the group,
one at a time, with whatever theme the client is interested in.
As a professional speaker and Sommelier, David's style is to be
part educator and part entertainer, or as he refers to it, "Info-tainment."
Group tastings work
best when the attendees can be seated. In situations where seating
for all of the guests is not possible, these group presentations
are usually kept very brief. We recommend that for this type of
event having David or one of his sommeliers host a "wine bar"
for the attendees to enjoy before and after the group tasting works
best.
WINE CHALLENGES
Many groups enjoy
having a variety of activities. We find that adding "Wine Challenges"
increase participation and interaction. Guests are given mystery
wines wrapped in paper or foil and they are challenged to identify
wines "blind."

Themes for these challenges are plentiful. Some
popular challenges include:
• Which wine is $10,
$20, or $50?
• Which
wine is Syrah, Merlot, or Cabernet?
• Which wine is from
Washington, California, or France?
Attendees are given cards to fill out with their
answers (or guesses) and prizes are given to those with the most
correct answers!
Regardless of the size of your group, we can help
you plan an event with any or all above activities to make your
event interesting and memorable!
